Ed for Model Number Maytag Neptune MDG21PDAWW

Hi, my dryer stopped working, the clothing that was put in there was wet. After that it stopped working. The washer works properly but it won't heat up. I look inside and the pilot(ignitor) is off. When i start a cycle the drum spins, but nothing else happens. I don't see a spark or flame. Is the pilot (ignitor) supposed to be always on, or will only spark when the cycle is started. This a gas dryer. I am clueless as what could be the problem, but by reading at the previous posts i kind of have an idea now. I will appreciate any help on this matter. Regards. Ed.

Answer

Ed, In fact, this is a commercial / coin op gas dryer. But like any gas dryer, you will need to check two components, based on your description, The gas valve ignitor WP33002789 if it is broken or cracked(usually a white colored spot) it will not glow and ignite the gas. And the Radiant/flame sensor WP338906 has to have a "closed" circuit, at room temperature, in order to complete the circuit and allow the power to the igniter, so it will glow and get hot enough to ignite the gas. Good Luck and Thanks
