James E. R Ref belt on mmh5500bww,agree with other writers, the Brazil belt marked 62722870 Maytag 1411J 6 MAEL hutchinson POLY-V is 52 in long. The proper belt should be 54 inches or a little longer will work. This is with the motor in the far upmost position, and please believe me, this Brazil belt is too tight. I can get it on but it is too tight! Way to tight. These people writing in needs to know this Brazil belt is manufacture or marked wrong! A good source of supply? Can you guys do a QDR on this?
Answer James, This type of issue will be a manufacturer issue. As for the belt being too tight. It is supposed to be tight. When installing the belt you should have to put it on the motor pulley and then start it around the tub pulley, in which it will go about 1/2 way on. Then you have to hold the belt and turn the main pulley to get it the rest of the way on. If you put a longer one on then it will cause the unit to not spin or agitate properly as it will slip when trying to turn. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, May 14, 2015
