By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM12027132
Manufacturer Part Number: 12001788

The Belt and Isolator Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This kit includes a drive belt and isolators that work together to transfer motion from the motor to the washer drum while dampening vibrations.

Over time, the belt can wear out, stretch, or break due to regular use, heavy loads, or friction. The isolators may also deteriorate, losing their ability to absorb shocks effectively.

Symptoms of a bad Belt and Isolator Kit include:

  • The drum not spinning or agitating
  • Excessive vibration or noise during operation
  • The washer failing to start or complete cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Bob L. for Model Number Maytag MAH6500AWW

I have the Maytag MAH6500AWW. Recently the belt came off. It is 10 years old so I imagine it is time to replace the belt. However, I'm concerned that something is not aligned between the drum pulley and the drive motor. The old belt is still intact but when I put it back on and start up the washer it slips off the back of the pulley each time. When I put the belt on and run it around manually I can see that the belt wants to move to the rear of the drum pulley. Is it possible that something could have become misaligned when the belt came off? Will the new belt fix that?

Answer

Hello Bob, I think the first thing you should try is to open the door and reach inside the inner tub. With your hand at the top of the inner tub, push up and release several times quickly to feel for "play". If you feel a "clunk" when you do this, the spin bearing has failed and this affects the alignment of the pulleys. The only other thing that will affect the belt in this manner is if the motor mounting bolts are loose.
