Doug for Model Number sts18gbsarww Moved refrigerator to my house from brothers' house and it didn't work. I thought I or my brother pushed a reset button and it worked. It has worked for about 2 or 3 years then I moved it around to tile the floor and it quit. Now I can't find the reset switch. Any ideas?
Answer Hello Doug, There is no reset button on a refrigerator. The unit may simply be in defrost. Plug it in and wait an hour. If it still isn't running, open the door and look straight up above the top shelf for a hole that has the defrost timer inside it. Use a flat blade screwdriver to turn it clockwise. As you turn it, you should hear a soft clicking sound. There will be a point you get to that a louder click will occur. This either put the unit into or out of the defrost cycle. The next place to check is the temperature control. The 120Vac is sent there from the defrost timer. If it has no power, advance the defrost timer as explained before and recheck for voltage at the temperature control. If voltage is getting to the defrost timer but is not passing the voltage in either position, the defrost timer WR9X502 has failed. If it is passing the voltage to the temperature control, the temperature control WR09X20002 is bad. If the voltage isn't even getting to the defrost timer, you have either an issue in the harness or in the wall outlet, or the power supply to the unit has the issue, (such as a bad breaker in the breaker box.
