Van R for Model Number Mgc5536bds My Maytag cooktop (igniter) started clicking on its own this afternoon. I unplugged it, it stopped, and I plugged it back in and the clicking returned. It's 9 years old, so it is out of warranty. Any recommendations on what part(s) to buy from you all to replace, and if I can do it myself or if I should hire a repair service? Thanks, Van Roeling
Answer Hello Van, You will want to check the switches. With power off to unit, check each switch WP74007806 for continuity. If you find any of the switches closed then you would need to replace the switch. If the switches check good, check wiring from switches to the spark module for damaged wires. If this checks ok then you would need a new spark module [74004282]. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, January 3, 2013
