Ronald for Model Number MAVT734EWW Washer filled with water and would not do anything else. Made a buzz/humming noise. Checked belt it was fine. I tried spinning, draining did nothing but buzz/hum. Should I replace motor or switch lid?
Answer Hello Ronald, You should ynplug the washer and tilt it back and see if you can turn the pulley 12002213 by hand. It should turn in both directions. One direction should turn the agitator and the other direction will unlock the break and allow the complete tub assembly and transmission assembly to spin. If it will not turn in the agitate direction you should check for items between the tubs and/or screws/nails hanging through a hole in the spin basket. Check that the drain pump can also spin freely. The belt will need to be removed to check the pump. If no problems are located, replace the transmission assembly 35-6615. Read More...
