I noticed in most of the advice on replacing the auger/dispenser motor you access from inside the freezer. On my Kitchenaid, I think I get through it from the outside by removing the front panel dispenser panel. I can see the motor held in by four screws and the shaft coming down from the top. The motor is covered by a cardboard sheet of paper or plastic. My ice maker makes ice, the water dispenser flows water, and when I push in the switch to dispense ice, the flap opens but no sound or rotation heard or seen on the motor.

Answer

Per, You're correct, you have to remove the dispenser front assembly from the freezer door, to access the control panel, switches and motors.Apparently you have a "fast fill dispenser" system on your fridge. We'd be happy to send you some access and testing information for that style dispenser, but we need an e mail address. But here's some help " 1. Unplug refrigerator or disconnect power. 2. Pull the dispenser drip tray out as far as it will go, then press down to release the catch, pull the tray out all the way and remove it from the dispenser. 3. Remove the two screws from the dispenser cover assembly. 4. Pull out at the bottom, lift up on the dispenser cover assembly, and remove the assembly from the refrigerator door. 5. Disconnect the dispenser cover 3-wire connector from the user interface board, and the ground wire connector from the ground wire harness." Thanks and Good Luck
