Bruce J for Model Number KFIV29PCMS00 Hi, My kitchenaid french door refrigerator has not cooled correctly since my granddaughter cleaned it out. The refrigerator is holding at 48 degrees and the freezer is holding at 18. She had the doors opened for quite some time and I'm wondering if something got messed up in the defrost cycle, or if something melted and froze over the thermistors? The one fan motor that I can reach from the back is running fine and the compressor is warm. I've tried unplugging it and restarting it with the default temps on the control panel So, my questions are, is there more than one motor evaporator, and if so, how do I get to the second one; and or, is there more than one thermistor and if so, how do I find the one for the freezer. Any ideas will be welcome. Thank you.
Answer Hello Bruce, you did not mention if the refrigerator was unplugged or at least turned off during the cleaning. If not running nothing would have been affected, if it was running it is possible there was an excess of moisture that turned to frost on the dual evaporator coils and may have jammed the fans, but that should have cleared in 24-48 hours normal run with doors closed. The temps 48/18 indicate either both fresh food and freezer fan motors are not running or there is a system problem. Your model came with a technical testing sheet, it is located either under the top right side door hinge cover or under/behind the front lower grille. Using it you can access the test mode and test/check the thermistors, the fans operation and the defrost cycle. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, September 17, 2019
