The Evaporator Fan Motor Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This kit includes the evaporator fan motor and necessary mounting components to ensure proper installation and function. The evaporator fan motor is responsible for circulating air over the evaporator coils and throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartments, ensuring uniform cooling and efficient operation.

You should replace the evaporator fan motor kit if the motor becomes faulty. Causes of a bad evaporator fan motor can include electrical issues, wear and tear from regular use, or mechanical failure. A malfunctioning motor can lead to uneven cooling, increased energy consumption, or the refrigerator not maintaining the proper temperature.

Symptoms of a bad evaporator fan motor include:

  • The refrigerator or freezer not cooling properly
  • Unusual noises such as squealing, humming, or grinding coming from the motor area
  • The fan not spinning or spinning inconsistently
  • Increased frost buildup in the freezer

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Answer

Chris, When you install the new motor you will need to use all parts that come with it. There is not specific instructions for doing this. To install the new part you will need to disconnect the power to the unit and access the fan motor. Once the fan motor has been accessed you will disconnect the plug on the side of the fan housing. Remove the fan housing from the unit by removing the screw on either side. Once out, pull the fan blade off and push up on the bottom of the fan to release the retaining clips from the holder that wraps under the motor. Once out you will use the new bracket to install but still use the same grommets. To attach the wires you will put the blue wire to one terminal and the white to the other. There is a smaller terminal for the green ground. The connector will get reconnected to the housing. Once you have this done reinstall the housing and connect the refrigerator connector to it and run the ground wire to the left where the other ground wire is located on the evaporator sheathing. Reassemble unit and plug in.
