Bill, The W10510667 pump motor, in short, is the wash motor. It pressurizes the water in the dishwasher and moves it through out the manifold and spray arms . The W10537869 is a diverter motor, the control board energizes the motor on the diverter and the diffuser moves to direct the pressurized water to the main(lower spray arm) and or the upper spray arm or spinner. then you have a separate drain pump W10348269 to drain the water from the tub.
