Russell for Model Number 110.24942301 How do I ohm test the motor start switch? Part number is 8529896. My washer, when it is completely full, stops at the rinse cycle, and when you try to get it to start, only runs about 20-30 seconds and puts off a burning smell. Let it sit for an hour, and it starts and completes the rinse and spin cycle, no problem On the other hand, when you put it through a short wash cycle, with nothing in it, it completes the entire wash and rinse and spin cycles. When you do the latter, and lift the lid, it stops as it should, but when you close the lid to start it back up, it makes a crunching noise for a few seconds before it takes off and runs normal. By the way, I removed the pump and motor, and the motor coupling looks fine. Appreciate any help you could send my way. Thanks! Russell
Answer Russel, with the power cord unplugged, and the wiring harness of the centrifugal switch disconnected, the switch would be tested for continuity and there should be continuity from the red wired terminal to the black wired terminal, then the orange wired terminal and the blue wired terminal. There should not be continuity between the orange wired terminal and the blue with an orange stripe wired terminal. Then with the switch in the run position, there should be continuity between the orange wired terminal and the blue with an orange stripe wired terminal while the red wired terminal to the black wired terminal should not have continuity.
