Actionfigure for Model Number lsc9000pw0 I have a whirlpool model LSC9000PW0. It will begin having a slow & weak spin & then stop spinning altogether. I have replaced the clutch for the 3rd time in 3 years. Each time, the spin works like new for some time afterward. The problem this time seemed a little different/worse. I replaced the clutch again & decided to look further to see if I could prevent future problems. There has been oil inside the cabinet each time & it looked as if it was coming from the gear case cover seal (#3 on diagram) or the shaft seal (#6 on diagram) so I pulled apart the gear case & replaced both of those seals. I added the specified oil to the case after cleaning & reassembling as it was very low. While apart, I looked it over & had no unusual wear on any of the gears that I could see. While reassembling, I was unsure about the components of the neutral drain mechanism. Although they don't seem overly worn, they don't stay in place on the pins well & I am unsure that I assembled it correctly. Is the spring on the trip lever to be placed on the outside of the tab on the rack retainer (the side with the square hole)?? Should the spin pawl sit loosely or tightly on the bolt? It is very loose. The latch end seems to drop too low & hang up on the edge of the rack retainer when it swings outward. Is this normal? When I turned the coupling manually, the cam & follower worked properly & the spin pinion gear & shaft turned when they should have. However, the spin gear always turned & as I understand it this should not be the case. I thought it was possible that there would be a difference once installed due to speed & centrifugal force. When I reinstalled, at spin, the machine made a terrible noise. pulled it all apart & nothing wrong. reassembled & reinstalled. The machine sounds perfectly normal. Fills, agitates, drains. does NOT spin. The clutch housing does NOT spin. The only other problem I have is the thrust washer that sits on top of the clip of the clutch has a broken tab. Would it be best to order & install a new neutral drain mechanism? Or does it seem more likely that I assembled something incorrectly? Would the sticking brake issue I read about cause any of this? Answer Hello Actionfigure. Remove the drive tube W10820043 from the washing machine. Check and see if there are rings worn around the tube.
