Raul for Model Number SF315PEEN I've read a couple of questions here and I might have the same problem with my Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 (Model # SF315PEEN; made 1996) but need some feedbacks. The oven stopped working after this past Thanksgiving. The top burners are still working. I started to preheat the oven. Didn't hear the normal firing off the flame. After the preheating, the oven was cold, no visible flame and no gas smell. I looked at the bottom and restarted to preheat again. The igniter doesn't seem to be glowing (turned the lights off) and can't smell any gas. I haven't removed the igniter yet for continuity test. But the looks of the connector casings shows that it might be welll burned and past its life. Is the igniter that I see here (AP3104565 for 4342528) is all the I need? Would I be able to use the same casing/brace that's in my oven? Thanks.
Answer Hello Raul. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
