The Oven Bake and Broil Igniter is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. It is designed to ignite the gas in both the bake and broil burners, ensuring efficient and safe operation of the oven. This dual-function igniter provides reliable ignition for a consistent baking and broiling experience.

You should replace the oven bake and broil igniter if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad igniter can include electrical failures, wear and tear from repeated use, or damage from thermal stress. These issues can prevent the igniter from reaching the necessary temperature to ignite the gas.

Symptoms of a bad oven bake and broil igniter include:

  • The oven not heating up
  • The broiler not working
  • A delayed ignition or no ignition at all
  • The oven taking longer than usual to reach the desired temperature

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Rochelle C. for Model Number 709.72402013

I have a Kenmore gas freestanding oven. Model# 709.72402013, Serial# VF04136844 and the oven and broiler do not turn on. The stove top burners work fine. In the other side of the panel it says "12 OV/60hz 15 amp Intermittent Type Ignition Device". I got a part number for the ignitor of AP4433236 from your site but when I pull up ignitors by oven, there is a whirlpool ignitor that replaces the broil/bake elements and your Q & A lists a Bake Ignitor and a Broil Ignitor. ARe there 2 parts? Can I use the combined part from Whirlpool? I am now very confused because if I have to buy 2 parts, I want to know before I take the oven apart. I also need instructions if they are available, the ones I have are very simplified.

Answer

Hello Rochelle, The symptom doesn't go along with the ignitor failing because, as you said, there is one for the top burner and one for the lower oven unless the unit has a broiler drawer, in which case there is only the one ignitor. I would assume that there is a high limit thermal cutout that has opened. This is about all I can guess without a valid model number. I tried the one you listed and it came back as invalid. If you would like us to pinpoint the part for you, please re-post with a valid model number.
