The Oven Bake and Broil Igniter is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens. It is designed to ignite the gas in both the bake and broil burners, ensuring efficient and safe operation of the oven. This dual-function igniter provides reliable ignition for a consistent baking and broiling experience.

You should replace the oven bake and broil igniter if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad igniter can include electrical failures, wear and tear from repeated use, or damage from thermal stress. These issues can prevent the igniter from reaching the necessary temperature to ignite the gas.

Symptoms of a bad oven bake and broil igniter include:

  • The oven not heating up
  • The broiler not working
  • A delayed ignition or no ignition at all
  • The oven taking longer than usual to reach the desired temperature

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Answer

Hello Sherra, the bake element should be accessible from the front. There are two screws mounting it to the back wall of the oven. After turning off the breaker to disconnect power to the oven, remove the screws and gently pull the element forward until you can see the wire connections. You should be able to disconnect the wires from the old element and connect the wires to the new bake element WB44T10005, then re-install the screws. Note: When you disconnect the wiring from the old element, be careful not to let the wires slip back into the back wall where you cannot reach them. Hope this helps!
