Symptoms of a bad drip pan include:

  • Water pooling under the refrigerator
  • Visible cracks, holes, or warping in the pan

Answer

Hello Kevin, Remove the power supply to the unit and verify no power is to the refrigerator before you begin. Remove the water line and move the unit out far enough to sit comfortably in the floor behind the unit. Remove the bottom cover and the condenser fan/bracket assembly. The wire will easily unplug. Remove the bolts/nuts that secure the compressor to the main base. The critical part of this job is to try to move the compressor only as far as necessary to get the old pan out and the new one WP12579803 in without breaking the hermetic seal containing the Freon in the sealed system. You will have to bend several Freon lines a bit to accomplish this and you will need to bend them back during the reassembly but try not to crimp any lines either as this will affect the units' operation. When the components are back in place, you should reconnect the water supply and connect to power before re-installing the machine compartment cardboard air directing cover. Don't forget to reconnect the wiring connector to the condenser fan motor. Once you have checked for leaks and no abnormal vibrating noises are noticed, re-install the rear cover.
