By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18053358
Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10249845

This water level pressure switch senses tub water level and signals the control to stop filling and advance the cycle. Replacing a failed switch restores proper fill shut-off and allows the washer to move to wash, drain, and spin.

  • Detects water level via air pressure in the attached hose from the tub air dome
  • Signals the timer/control to close inlet valves at the selected fill level
  • Enables agitation and spin only when the level is appropriate or the tub is empty
  • Typical symptoms of a failed switch include overfilling or underfilling, continuous filling, cycle not advancing, or no spin
What's included: 1 water level pressure switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off water supply before servicing
  • Access the switch in the control console or top panel; note wire locations for reassembly
  • Transfer the pressure hose and wire connectors to the new switch one at a time; ensure the hose is clear, not kinked or cracked, and fits snugly
  • After installation, run a quick fill test to ensure proper shut-off and cycle progression

Gina for Model Number WFW9550WW00

I was having intermittent problems with my washer not draining after a few loads of laundry. Sometimes I could run the drain cycle and that would drain the water but it was still intermittent. I have cleaned the hose and the drain filter and replaced the drain pump. After I put the new drain pump in, the door locked and the drain pump runs constantly with no water in the machine. I have to unplug the washer to get it to stop and the door remains locked. Any ideas? Thank you

Answer

Gina, You will want to test the pressure switch and check the pressure hose where it connects to the tub of the unit. If the hose is clogged then this will cause the unit to think that the tub is full and will try to drain the water out. Also if the pressure switch is bad it can cause the same issue. If these check ok then the issue will be a faulty main control board.
