Doug for Model Number KDFE104DSS3 my dishwasher will run full cycle on "Express Wash" and works well. For all the other wash settings the tub will fill but the wash activity never starts and the water just sits in the bottom of the tub. Repair dude said I need a new wash/sump pump but that doesn't make sense to me since that part obviously works in the "Express Wash" cycle. Any ideas? Dishwasher is 4 years old.
Answer Hello Doug, yes, I agree if the wash pump runs consistently in one cycle but not the others, there is just one circuit from the control board to the wash pump.it either works or not. The difference between the wash cycles is the time length of each operation and the frequency of the diverting of the wash pump outflow to the upper/lower spray arms. The control board will not send power to the wash pump until it has cycled the diverter motor to the correct position, then it will power the wash pump for a certain time, cuts the power then cycles the diverter motor to the next position and repeats. This may well be a diverter motor problem. Your dw model came with a Tech Sheet in the bottom behind the front toe plate giving test mode procedures and component values, use the sheet, and run the diagnostic test to check for up to 4 error codes and check the possible causes.
