A malfunctioning assembly can lead to poor water circulation, affecting the dishwasher's cleaning performance.

Symptoms of a bad pump and motor assembly include:

  • Inadequate cleaning of dishes
  • Unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • Water not draining properly from the dishwasher
  • Error codes related to water circulation or drainage issues

Aleya for Model Number KDFE104DSS0

Our dishwasher tablets are not getting dissolved, and dishes are not being cleaned. Checked that inlet valve/float switch both register appropriate ohms, wash arms are clear (not clogged), tablet dispenser wasn't being blocked, water is entering dishwasher and is hot, but there are no washing sounds during wash cycle, only a distinct hum. Draining function seems to be working as expected. I think I narrowed it down to the circulation pump or pump/motor assembly being the problem. Leaning towards replacing the latter in case it's more than the circulation pump. (Hoping it's not also the computer board) Wondering if you have any more troubleshooting suggestions before I buy a replacement pump/motor assembly. Thank you!

Hello Aleya, likely the wash pump has failed, you can check if it is getting 120vac (with a multimeter) from the control board after a water fill at the motor's wire terminals, if so then the wash pump would need to be replaced, it is part W11032770.

Wayne, You will have to remove the pump with hoses and clamps to replace this. Nothing else other than the hose should have to be removed to do this.

Herb, With having a new motor but the unit is not washing, this would most likely be a faulty control board.

Steve, it would be recommended that the main control W10875442 is tested for voltage output, while starting a cycle, at the connection P6 pin 4 to P6 pin 9. If there is not voltage, the main control has failed. If there is, the next step would be to test from pin 6 to pin 9 on the same connector. If there is voltage, the overfill switch is good and the probe at pin 6 would need to be moved to pin 7. If there is voltage here, the valve W11175771 has failed. If there is not, the main control has failed.

Jim for Model Number jlmjstine@gmail.com

I have a dish washer about a year and a half old. Model kdte104ess3. It lets water in and sets there. I press cancel and it pumps the water out. So I take the front panel off and find the two wires to the wash pump and plug them in directly to power and I hear nothing. Next I find the terminals on the board that power the wash pump, start the cycle and after about 30-45 seconds the power is produced at the board, so I am thinking the wash motor is bad. Any thoughts?

Jim, based on your post description and information, it sounds like you have a faulty WPW10605057/WPW10605057 PUMP&MOTOR. If you haven't yet done it, recheck the wires to the wash motor connector for 120 VAC to verify proper connections and power supply to the motor. Thanks,

Volkan, it would be recommended that the spray arms are inspected for any cracks that may be causing a loss of pressure. If there are not any cracks, then it is very likely that the circulation pump W11032770 would be failing.

Hello Doug, yes, I agree if the wash pump runs consistently in one cycle but not the others, there is just one circuit from the control board to the wash pump.it either works or not. The difference between the wash cycles is the time length of each operation and the frequency of the diverting of the wash pump outflow to the upper/lower spray arms. The control board will not send power to the wash pump until it has cycled the diverter motor to the correct position, then it will power the wash pump for a certain time, cuts the power then cycles the diverter motor to the next position and repeats. This may well be a diverter motor problem. Your dw model came with a Tech Sheet in the bottom behind the front toe plate giving test mode procedures and component values, use the sheet, and run the diagnostic test to check for up to 4 error codes and check the possible causes.

Mathew, Most likely the diverter motor is stuck in the upper spray position.W10537869 Try to power off the unit for a couple of minutes to see if it resets the position when you power the unit back on. If not then replacing the diverter should solve your problem.

James, With replacing the drain pump and all hoses and knockout clear the only thing left would be the control not sending voltage to the drain pump. Check at the drain pump for 120 VAC when it should be draining. If no voltage is present then replace the control board. W10854225
