Patrick for Model Number MVWB400VQ0 I had a repair man come out to look at my Maytag washer. Once you turn on the machine you hear a grinding noise. Water does go into the machine and the water does seem to drain but right before the spin cycle the grinding noise comes back. The repair man said it is the water pump and it would be $400 for the part and labor for a 10 year old machine. There are two pump involved, which one could it be? From your web site they both seem very easy to repair. There is no leaking water under the machine.
Answer Patrick, Just because the unit is not leaking does not mean that the pump could not be bad. The fact that it is not draining and is making a loud grinding noise would indicate that the pump would be faulty. You would want to replace the drain pump [AP565269]. Read More...
