  • Remove mounting screws; lift off the assembly and disconnect the harness if equipped

Evan for Model Number MFI2568AES

I have a 13-year-old Maytag ice2o french door bottom freezer refrigerator and the left side door has just recently started to not fully close every time on its own weight. The unit has not been moved and the doors are properly aligned, so I'm thinking the mullion may be the issue. When I manually open/close the rail mullion, I hear a plastic clicking noise at the bottom hinge. I don't know if it's always been there but the top hinge does not make this noise. Would you say replacing the rail mullion is likely to solve my issue?

Answer

Evan, the door mullion WPW10151713 clicking would be a sign of potentially failing, however, it would not prevent the door from closing by itself unless it does not rotate against the door when opened. The door closer WP67003639 at the bottom door hinge could cause this if it is damaged. If the closer is not damaged, then it may be the connection point in the door [12978002SQ] itself that may be failing.
