Manufacturer Part Number: 279408

The Rear Drum Felt Seal with Adhesive is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This part creates a tight seal at the rear of the dryer drum. This seal prevents hot air from escaping the drum during cycles, ensuring efficient and even drying of clothes.

Causes of a deteriorating rear drum felt seal can range from normal wear and tear, excessive heat exposure, to mechanical issues that cause misalignment or excessive wear on the seal itself.

Symptoms of a bad Rear Drum Felt Seal include:

  • Clothes taking longer to dry or not drying thoroughly
  • Increased lint outside the dryer or in the venting system
  • Unusual noises during operation, indicating a gap or friction issue
  • Heat escaping from the rear of the dryer

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Hi Patrick. In order to repair the front and rear drum seal part # LA-1008, correctly you also need to "square-up" the drum as it meets the rear bulkhead and the front inner panel assy. The rear drum sets on rollers and if the rollers and roller shafts are worn, it will create slop that wear out the front and rear drum felt part # WP31001637. The front of the drum uses drum glides to roll against part # WP31001470 Front left tower post uses felt pad part # WP31001356 and the rt. side uses the part # LA-1006. You will need to allow the glue to set for 24 hrs before you use the dryer. Thank You. --
