Jojo How do I know if I need to replace the shaft or support roller of my dryer if it is making a thumping noise?
Answer Hi Jojo. With the dryer drum removed, carefully look at the drum weld area. When the weld area passes by the drum roller this is initially where the drum gets its thumping sound. If you feel the drum weld is excessive replace it. The roller which is normally closer to the heater can will catch the heat (especially with a vent restriction) and weaken the roller. Then the oil-impregnated shaft will loose its properties faster and wear out. Roller part # 349241T. You need to spin the roller and listen for squeaks. If the belt tensioner roller is worn it will also squeak part # WP691366. Thank you. Read More...
