The Spray Arm Seal is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This seal is responsible for creating a watertight seal between the spray arm and the water supply tube, ensuring that water is directed through the spray arm without leaking.

Causes of a bad spray arm seal include wear and tear over time, exposure to high temperatures or harsh detergents, or physical damage from mishandling or debris.

Symptoms of a bad spray arm seal:

  • Water leaks around the spray arm or in the dishwasher tub
  • Reduced water pressure or inefficient spray coverage
  • Excessive noise or rattling sounds from the spray arm during cycles
  • Premature wear or damage to the spray arm components

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore dishwasher models.

Answer

Hello Mel, First of all, the unit has to be supplied hot water from the home plumbing to make the unit energy efficient. Secondly, the heating circuit in the unit has to raise the water temperature to 140°F in order to produce the chemical reaction from the detergent as it was designed to do. Without this water temperature increase, the unit will only spray water and will not produce a satisfactory wash result. If you could please post a new question and include the model number from your units' I.D. tag, we can look up the wiring diagram for your specific unit to see what components are present that you should test for issues. We will also be able to recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
