Judy for Model Number MER6772BAW My top oven bake is not working properly. It won't heat up. I set the temperature and broil works fine. I have had the element tested and it is fine. I have been told it is the temp sensor or the control board, everything else on this stove works fine.
Answer Judy, you will want to test the resistance of the sensor probe as well as volt output to the bake element. It is easier to start with testing voltage to the bake element and then accessing the connection for the probe at the control. To test the voltage going to the element it is easiest to pull the unit out, unplug it and remove the back paneling giving you access to the element connections. From there, plug the unit back in, turn the bake setting on and place the probes of a multimeter on both connections. With a meter probe on each connection, you should be reading around 220v AC going to the element. If you do not have 220v going to the element, you will then want to turn the unit off, disconnect the temperature probe, and measure the ohms of the temperature probe. At 100 degrees, the probe should read 1143 ohms. At a temperature of 80 degrees the probe should read around 1100 ohms. If the probe reads within that, and 220v is not getting to the element, you will need the control WP5701M403-60. If the temperature probe did not read within the mentioned ohms, then you will need the temperature probe sensor WP7430P044-60. Read More...
