Bucky for Model Number KSCK25FVMS03 The motor makes noise but no ice is crushed or dispensed. The coupling connecting the auger shaft and the ice bucket seemed wobbly or loose-fitting. The teeth or grooves seem fine. I tried to get the coupling off but the Philips head screw does not loosen even with some penetrating oil applied. Maybe a rust issue. Then I tried to take the auger shaft out. I removed the two screws and the plastic housing but cannot lift the shaft out. Maybe a rust issue too. I put a vice grip on the shaft and tried tapping up to help lift it out, but that didn't break anything loose, it simply raised the shaft to a height where the ice bucket would no longer seat. So, I tapped the shaft back down and returned to motor noise and no ice dispensed. What do you suggest?
Answer Bucky, Under where the ice bin is above the top shelf there is a cover that you would remove. This will give access to the motor. Before trying to remove the motor, try tapping down on the shaft with a hammer to see if you can break the shaft free from the motor. If not then drop the motor down and try to work on it at the motor to break it free. The motor and possibly the shaft will need to be replaced. Read More...
