Vinnie for Model Number WFW9400SW03 I think my shock absorbers may need replacing. I've looked at the other questions as to how to determine if the shock is bad. Mine have resistance, but also have 3/4 to 1 inch of play without any resistance. Is the play normal without any resistance? I would think that there should never be any play within the shock without there being resistance. Am I correct?
Answer Vinnie, as this washer is a front load, the shock absorbers are going to have little resistance as they are used to absorb vibrations rather than center the tub. The washer would need to be checked to ensure that it is level. If it is properly level, the next step would be to wiggle the spin basket inside the tub. If the spin basket has play to be able to wiggle around inside of the tub, the spider shaft (part of the spin basket WPW10269756 which has been discontinued by the manufacturer) and rear tub W10772618 bearings would need to be inspected for failure. The drive belt WPW10388414 would also need to be inspected for signs of slipping and the drive pulley WP8182650 inspected to see if it is loose. Read More...
