Gus for Model Number LA5550XPW3 I have a Whirlpool LA5550XPW3. In a recent answer you indicated that the bottom agitator and the top agitator (filter) snap together and the agitator bolt (I assume you refer to part AP3046456) holds the two items tightly together. That is not possible. Take a look at part AP3046456: you will see that the diameter of the bolt head is much narrower than the inner diameter of AP2906586. Simply put the bolt inside one end of the filter and it will come out at the other end! The question remains: what holds the top agitator and the bottom agitator together? Thanks
Answer Hi Gus. The Agitator top part # WP63753. The agitator bottom half part # 387838. The bolt with washer is part # WP358237. The agitator cap is part # WP3355758. The breakdown only shows all of these parts going together to make up the total assy. You are correct that the bolt goes completely through the top half of the agitator and only bolts the lower half to the transmission. The upper half snaps together as you first align the two half's correctly. There are slots and retainer clips that are internal and the 2-halves align up together. Maybe the bolts washer that also should have the rubber washer is missing and allowing the bolt to fall through. Thank You. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, April 3, 2012
