The Door Switch is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This switch is crucial for controlling the interior lights and the activation of certain refrigerator functions when the door is opened or closed.

Symptoms of a failing Door Switch include:

  • Interior lights staying on when the refrigerator door is closed
  • Interior lights not turning on when the door is opened
  • The refrigerator unexpectedly starting or stopping
  • Alarms or indicators malfunctioning, signaling an open door when it is closed

Causes of a bad door switch can involve mechanical failure due to wear and tear from frequent use, damage from impacts (such as slamming the door), or electrical issues like a short circuit or faulty wiring.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Betsy for Model Number msd2274veb00

Where is the water dispenser switch located? Could this be my problem? The ice maker works just fine - but the water dispenser dispenses water and never stops! I replaced the control board but that wasn't the problem - also the dispenser panel beeps non-stop - we had to put a toothpick into the "Lock" control to shut it up. If I plug the water back in on the back of the refrigerator, the water will come out of the dispenser automatically and not stop. Can you help>

Answer

Betsy, This unit does not have a dispenser switch. The switch would be incorporated into the dispenser pad W10176455. You can switch the wiring of the pad from the ice dispenser and see if it continues to run. This would tell you whether the pad is stuck or not the pad at all. Also disconnect the wire harness to the water dispenser valve in the back of the unit and see if it continues to run. If so then the water valve is bad and would need to be replaced. Also check to make sure that the unit is not set for a measured fill. If this is the case and it never reached its volume then it would cause the dispenser to not shut off.
