Answer Ben, The thermistor WP8577274 is a mineral based control device. It produces a certain amount of resistance, based on temperature and wether the device is a NTC (negative thermal coefficient) or PTC (positive thermal coefficient). In your dryer it determines the drum temperature, based on the resistance from the drum heat and informs the control board when to cycle the heater off and on. What seems to be the issue ? Answer Hi Ben. Dryer Thermistor - Located on the blower housing next to the thermal fuse. Item Number: WP8577274. At 77° it reads 10,000 ohms. It acts as a cycling thermostat which regulates the heat circuit on/off relay on the main control board. If it does not read within 5- % within spec's , then replace it. Thank You. Read More...
