Kevin for Model Number 110.60972990 My Kenmore dryer keeps tripping the thermal cutoff. I have cleaned the lint from the dryer and ducting. I have good airflow. Thermister (part number 3406294) reads about 9650 ohms resistance. The thermal fuse (part number 3390719) reads 0 ohms resistance. Why does the thermal cutoff keep tripping? Thanks for the help
Answer Kevin, Your thermistor is in range (10,000 ohms at 75-78 dgrs.) and a thermistor normally would not cause a thermal fuse to open. A couple of other checks to make, check the blower wheel, blower housing, and lint duct for clogs as well, check the element assembly for a possible "droop" or short to the support plate, causing the element to remain partially energized. Check the exhaust vent hood(outside) make sure it's not restricted or "smashed" restricting the air flow. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, January 28, 2013
