Part Number: OEM9325485
Manufacturer Part Number: 4387562

This thermostat is a temperature-sensitive switch that helps your appliance regulate its cooling cycles for consistent performance. Replacing a failing thermostat restores proper cycling and helps prevent warm spots, overcooling, or frost buildup. What it does:

  • Senses temperature and opens/closes an electrical circuit at a preset threshold
  • Helps control components such as the compressor, fan, or defrost heater
  • Common symptoms of a bad thermostat include inconsistent temperatures, unit running constantly or not cycling, heavy frost on the evaporator, or no automatic defrost
  • May show signs of damage such as brittle leads or a deformed housing
What's included:
  • 1 thermostat
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; turn off water supply if accessing near icemaker areas
  • Note wire positions and transfer any clips/brackets from the original part
  • Mount firmly in the original location so the thermostat senses temperature correctly; avoid pinching or stretching wires
  • Restore power and verify proper cycling/defrost operation

Answer

TMN, You will first want to make sure that the evaporator coils are not impacted with ice which would indicate a defrost error. Pull the rear wall in the freezer compartment off to check this. If the coils are impacted with ice then test the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity. If there is no continuity then the part is bad and would need to be replaced. If there is continuity on both then the defrost timer would be the issue.
