This thermostat is a temperature-sensitive switch that helps your appliance regulate its cooling cycles for consistent performance. Replacing a failing thermostat restores proper cycling and helps prevent warm spots, overcooling, or frost buildup. What it does:

  • Senses temperature and opens/closes an electrical circuit at a preset threshold
  • Helps control components such as the compressor, fan, or defrost heater
  • Common symptoms of a bad thermostat include inconsistent temperatures, unit running constantly or not cycling, heavy frost on the evaporator, or no automatic defrost
  • May show signs of damage such as brittle leads or a deformed housing
What's included:
  • 1 thermostat
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; turn off water supply if accessing near icemaker areas
  • Note wire positions and transfer any clips/brackets from the original part
  • Mount firmly in the original location so the thermostat senses temperature correctly; avoid pinching or stretching wires
  • Restore power and verify proper cycling/defrost operation

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Thermostat (Part Number: OEM9325485)

Tom, Unfortunately we would not have information on the thermostat that would be needed. The other thing would be that the refrigerant amount in a freezer may be higher than the refrigerator would be and may not work properly.

TMN, You will first want to make sure that the evaporator coils are not impacted with ice which would indicate a defrost error. Pull the rear wall in the freezer compartment off to check this. If the coils are impacted with ice then test the defrost heater and defrost thermostat for continuity. If there is no continuity then the part is bad and would need to be replaced. If there is continuity on both then the defrost timer would be the issue.

Hello Darrell. Check and make sure the doors are sealing good. If so, then the drain is clogged and will need to be cleaned out in the unit.

Hello Marty, This sounds more like an air circulation problem. I would check the evaporator fan motor and the freezer coils for a frost build-up. If the air doesn't circulate properly, areas will be colder in one area than others. You should also look at how the unit is loaded since items in certain places can block air flow in areas inside the cabinet.

Dan, You're on target. The problem is most likely in the cold control 4387562, there's a loose or arced contact inside the switch. Replacing the control should solve the issue.

Hello Katie, These two unit actually use the same thermostat. While you could put one in not listed for the unit, there is no guarantee that the unit would then maintain the correct temperatures. Since we are not engineers, we cannot make this call so you would have to contact the manufacturer for any possible substitutions you might possibly try. All we can do is recommend the substituted parts recommended by the manufacturer and since none have been listed, I'm sorry but we are unable to assist in this case.

Hello Rollie, There is a very good chance that the unit has gone into defrost. Leave the unit plugged in for the next hour and see if it doesn't kick back on.

Dan, You may need the cold control, But you may want to check the diffuser 2200793 and 4387121 linkagae assembly. Also check and make sure there isn't anything on the top shelf, or under the air tunnel that could redirect the air down the back of the shelves. also check and make sure there are no articles, sticking out over the edges of the shelves or in the door bins that may be holding the door slightly open.
