A high limit thermostat that stops heat when a dryer's temperature gets too hot, helping protect the heating system and cabinet from overheating. It's a direct-replacement thermostat used in many gas and electric dryer heater assemblies. What it does:

  • Opens the heating circuit if temperatures exceed safe limits to prevent overheating.
  • Helps protect the heating element, housing, and internal components from heat damage.
  • A failed thermostat can cause no heat or intermittent heating in the dryer.
  • Works with the dryer's safety controls to maintain normal operating temperature.
What's included: One high limit thermostat. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power (and gas if applicable) before servicing; allow unit to cool completely.
  • Located on or near the heater box or blower housing; follow your model's service manual for access.
  • Replace with the exact part number to maintain original safety settings.

Hello Grace. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. If so, unplug the wires going to the element and trace for the lose of the voltage. When you find where you lost it, that part will need to be replaced. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
