Steve F. for Model Number AFU206AW I bought this freezer new and it has iced up the inside since brand new. Water is leeking off of the evaporator and falling down to the sump where the drain tube is. It then freezes up before it can go down the drain tube. Many times I have disassemabled thawed it all out, pour hot water down the drain tube and it is clear of blockage. Put it all back together and within 2 weeks, ice accumulating on the bottom basket again. Water from the evaporator just freezes before it can run down the tube. My dealer told me they all do that and I would just have to take it apart every so often and clean it out. I wanted him to take the junk thing back but he wouldn't. Is this true or is there an update or something I can do to fix this, I have about had it with this thing. Please help. Thank you
Answer Hi Steve. There is a frozen drain repair kit part # 8201771. It is a device that hangs -centered- in the drain hole from the defrost heater mount assy. This will transfer enough defrost heat into the drain and make sure it stays clear and not clog. Thank You. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Saturday, December 10, 2011
