Mike for Model Number RED4340SQ1 What is the purple wire run? Mine is not sending power from the terminal at the top of the machine where it starts off the timer. It runs down to a relay or fuse, whatever you want to refer it to, which in turn passes the power to the heating element. This is my problem, I temporarily attached the 2 red wires, the red one with the white stripe that runs from the start button to the bottom 4 way relay and the solid red wire which runs to the blower. Which a purple wire that runs down to the heating element and I made the element get hot so what does that purple wire at the timer actually do or supposed to do.
Answer Mike, The violet/purple wire goes to the cycling thermostat. Which is the 4 way relay that you are referring to. When the unit runs, the cycling thermostat will open up and the purple wires keep the unit running while shutting off the heater. Read More...
