Patrick for Model Number GSF26C5EXY00

Initial Post: I have a Whirlpool french door refrigerator, and the water coming out of the door has gradually slowed to a trickle over the last few months. I swapped out WPW10238100 (single inlet valve), but that didn't do anything. I have also checked the filter and supply pressure, and both seem fine. Wondering if the dual inlet valve (WPW10258562) could be the culprit, but wanted some feedback before purchasing. The only other recommendation I have heard is the filter housing, but wondering if there is a pump that could be failing? TIA, so sick of it taking 2 min to fill a cup of water haha. Follow Up: Mention that it could be a frozen reservoir in the fridge, but it appears fine. Also a mention that it could be the filter housing or a frozen line in the door. Would there be visible signs of damage to confirm the housing needs to be replaced, and can I assume reference is to a tube/hose in the freezer door (how do you check that)? I changed the singular inlet valve with no improvement, would the dual valve not be a culprit as well (before these other items?)

Answer

Hello Patrick, to check where this water flow restriction is, start under the freezer door at the water dispenser tubing connector, disconnect the tubing and use the water dispense pad to activate the water valve, check the flow rate, then work your way back to the 2x water valve doing the same check. The tubes are attached using John Guess type fittings, to release the tubing press in on the locking collar at the connector and pull the tubing out.
