David I have a Maytag gas dryer about 10 years old. It has a gas valve p/n 3-06176 with the two replaceable solenoid coils. It works normally at first but after things warm up, the ignitor comes on but the flame won't start. I believe one of the coils is open when it gets warm, as some have suggested. Can you tell me what the resistance of the coils should be?
Answer David, The booster coil should read 700 ohms resistance and secondary should read 600 ohms resistance. Remember the ignitor needs to draw 3.4 amps to open the gas valve and the flame sensor contacts open when its hot enough and that sends voltage to the secondary coil. Ignitor can be checked with an amp clamp if you have one. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, September 17, 2018
