Brian for Model Number gs440lemq2 My Whirlpool oven and broiler will not light. When I try to bake I hear the valve click twice but there is no spark. When I try to broil nothing happens, the cooktop burners do ignite. The gas valve has 250 ohms across the bake solenoid but very high ohms across the broil solenoid. I'm pretty sure my gas valve is bad. Will this cause the spark module to not spark bake and broil or do I have a bad spark module as well?
Answer Hello Brian, If the spark module is getting 120Vac to terminals J1-6 when set to bake and J1-7 when set to broil, the module has failed. If the voltage is not getting there, check for the 120Vac at terminals P2-4 with the unit set to bake, (on the control board), and P2-1 with the unit set to broil. If no voltage there, replace the control WP8524251. If voltage is getting to the spark module, the spark module WPW10331686 will be at fault. Read More...
