Lisa for Model Number ARS9167AB Water is overflowing from the ice maker into the freezer. It is also making big clumps of ice. Do we need to replace the secondary water valve or the main water valve? Also, is the replacement of either of these valves fairly simple as my husband will be making the repair. Thank you. PS-This is an Amana refrigerator.
Answer Hello Lisa, While the primary valve WP12544001 normally fails before the secondary WP12544101, both have to open and close to allow water to come through. If water is getting through enough to make ice clumps, the manufacturer says both valves should be replaced since the water has to pass through both of them to get there.
