Jim for Model Number KitchenAid Refrigerator Model # KBFO42FSX I have a KitchenAid Refrigerator Model # KBFO42FSX which needs a replacement water inlet valve for the ice maker. The OEM part number (I believe) is 2309417. I've checked with AppliancePartsPro and have found that the part is discontinued. Is there a possibility I could try repairing the part itself? Or as simple as the function of the part is, why can't another valve from another model be used? Is there any interchangeability between valves? This is a higher end fridge bought in 2008 and with the exception of no longer making ice it works beautifully. It's hard to accept that if I want to make ice I'm going to need to replace the entire refrigerator that's only 12 years old. What say my friends at APP?
Answer Jim, unfortunately, as the valve 2309417 has been discontinued, we would not be able to recommend an alternative as we would not be able to guarantee one would have the same operating watts and mounting bracket. The solenoid of the valve can not be repaired without replacing the entire valve. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Thursday, December 3, 2020
