Abm142 for Model Number WRX988SIBM03 I noticed recently my whirlpool refrigerator stopped dispensing water and then noticed that it wasn’t making ice as well. I checked the primary water inlet valve’s conditions. The valve continuity is fine (250 ohm as measured), but the voltage to the valve is only around 70V, not 120V, when the water dispenser paddle is pressed. The water valve is thus not opened. I also removed the receiving water line from the valve to see if water comes out when the dispenser paddle is pressed – no water comes out. I thus suspected the main control board may be the problem. After I replaced the board, the voltage at valve is still around 70V so the water dispenser is still not working. What can cause this low voltage issue at water valve or what could be at fault? Thanks for your help!
Answer Hello ABM412, the primary /isolation water inlet valve should ohm at about 700 ohms. The voltage (120VAC) is reduced by a diode pack inline to it to 60-70VDC which is sufficient to open the valve, based on the testing you have done, suggest you replace the water valve W10865826.
