The Water Inlet Valve Assembly is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It is responsible for controlling the flow of water into the washer during fill cycles. A faulty valve assembly can cause issues such as abnormal sounds, reduced or no water flow, or leaks.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • The washer not filling or partially filling with water
  • Odd noises coming from the valve area during fill cycles  
  • Water continuously running into the washer even when not in use
  • Leaks around or below the valve area

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral buildup restricting water flow, worn internal components allowing unintended water passage, or damage from fluctuations in water pressure over time.

This OEM part is compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Keith. Here is the test procedure for you. Hope this helps. Remove the P9 connector, and using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between pins P9-1, and P9-3.
