Earl H for Model Number WTW5640XW0 My washer machine leaks thru the cold water valve only when I select warm water. I noticed that the CWV has (2) solenoids and the HWV has (1) solenoid. In the wiring, wires run from the CWV to the HWV. If I run only cold water the machine does fine. Do I need to replace both or just the CWV.
Answer Earl, This issue would be normal. When you run a warm water wash the cold and hot water valve will activate through the circuit that runs from the hot to the cold water valve. You can test each of the solenoids for resistance to be sure that they are good. The resistance should be between 890 and 1300 ohms of resistance. If out side of that range then that solenoid is bad and would need to be replaced. You can also check the water temperature thermistor to make sure that it is good. The resistance of the thermistor at 50 degrees would be 97K to 102K ohms. The resistance at 77 degrees is 49K to 51K ohms and the resistance at 104 degrees would be 26K to 27.2K. Read More...
