The Cold Water Inlet Valve is an OEM replacement part specific to Whirlpool washing machines. It is responsible for allowing cold water to enter the wash tub during specific cycles.

Symptoms of a bad cold water inlet valve include:

  • Inability to select cold water cycles
  • No cold water entering the tub even when valve is called for
  • Water leaks around the valve area
  • High water usage as the valve fails to close fully

Causes can be mineral buildup over time restricting water flow, or mechanical failure of internal components like seals or diaphragms. Replacing the inlet valve prevents further issues like inconsistent fill levels due to too much or too little water entering the tub.

This OEM Whirlpool replacement valve provides a tight seal and reliable water control. It restores cold water functions and is compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Tim, the groaning sound can come from multiple parts throughout the washer. It would be recommended that the specific area of origin be located, as well as if there is a specific pattern to when it occurs, to better identify what may be causing the noise. An example would be if it sounds as if it is coming from the bottom in between agitate and spin cycles.

Jonathan for Model Number MVWX700XL2

We noticed that we still heard running water going somewhere into the washer when everything had completed and when we powered the washer off. To avoid a big mess we shut off the water at the faucets coming out of the wall. When we were shutting the faucets off we noticed that when we shut off the hot water we still heard the running water, however, when we shut off the cold water we no longer heard running water. Our first guess is that the cold water inlet needs to be replaced. We would like some kind of confirmation that we are on the right track. Please help. We want to order the part from you ASAP.

Brant, with the power supply cord unplugged, the thermistor of the dispenser assembly W11127357 would need to be tested for resistance. At room temperature, it should measure around 50K Ohms. If it measures around 50K ohms, and the temperature selector is set to warm wash or cold wash, the failure would be in the main control W11116592.

Heather, With the unit filling in rinse, the water valve will typically not be the issue and would be more likely a control board issue.

Ben, It would be recommended to put the unit into a service diagnostic mode and see if there are any error codes stored. This will guide you to what to check on the unit. It could be a shift actuator or control board but the error code will tell you what to check.
