Mark for Model Number LAT9706AAE How do I go about changing the console on top of my Maytag Washing Machine, Model No. LAT9706AAE? The plastic tabs that secure the console to the top of the housing got broken during a recent move & the only thing that currently holds it in place is the sheet metal backing panel. I was fortunate to find a replacement console (a part no longer available from the manufacturer), & am wondering if transferring all of the controls (including the front control panel) is something for a do-it-yourselfer to tackle? Thanks.
Answer Mark, transferring the parts is going to be relatively easy that a do-it-yourselfer can certainly do. The knobs would need to be removed first, followed by unscrewing the console from the back panel. This will then allow access to the components attached to the console where the mounting screws would be removed and each part transferred one at a time to the new console. Read More...
