Stephen for Model Number WET4024EW0 Machine would not spin or agitate. Replaced gear case and clutch. Now the spin and agitate work but getting loud noise on agitate and drain with no spin,once the washer goes into spin noise is gone. If i open lid while in spin,the tub comes to a grinding halt. So i isolated the motor and pump from gearcase during drain and no noise. The motor coupling was also replaced. Strange that during spin is the only time i do not have the noise.
Answer Stephen, the transmission would need to be checked to ensure it has seated fully and that there is not a misalignment occurring. If it checked good, it is likely that there is an issue with the transmission. If the enamel coating on the top of the housing was not removed, this can cause pressure build-up which can result in failures. Ensuring this enamel coating is removed would be recommended.
