Francesco I took the washplate off and see that that the plastic splines are stripped completely. However I noticed that the metal splines which the wash plate fits onto, looks a little rusted as well. I cleaned it up and there are splines but I'm wondering if that should be changed as well. What is that part? Thank you
Answer Francesco, The metal splines that the wash plate attaches to, is the gear case output shaft (agitator shaft). To repair or replace the shaft, you'd need to replace the gearcase W11132267 Gearcase. Since you've "cleaned it up" already, you might want to re check the splines and insure there is no residual "plastic" shards or debris left, then you may want to apply a thin coat of "vaseline" to the metal shaft install the new washplate make sure the bolt is tightened properly, and watch out for overloading the washer.
