Byron for Model Number Maytag Bravos My Maytag is eating wash plates (WPW10553968) like they are candy. I have replaced it three times in the last 9 months and overall I have replaced the wash plate 6 times since purchasing the machine in 2010. We are careful not to over load the machine, just wondering what else could be causing this problem? Is there a clutch on the drive shaft that could be bad? Or possibly the transmission? Please help.
Answer Byron, if the washplate has any movement in it when attached to the gearshaft assembly, this free movement can cause the splines to wear out quickly. The spline of the washplate should fit snugly around the spline of the gearshaft and not have any free movement separate from the gearshaft itself. If you could provide the model number for your appliance in a new inquiry, this will allow for more accurate information. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, June 5, 2019
