Nick for Model Number mvwb835dw4

My bravos xl washplate doesnt impell correctly. It moves a couple of inches with the tub one way then back... Over and over and over. I took the rotor and clutch off andbtyed with the inner spline. It moved up and down about .5 inches. I reassembled and the wash was normal again. After the spin cycle and the wash completed, i attempted to start another cycle and it went back to the same way it was before not impelling correctly. I repeated my steps above and got another good wash. Bad clutch?

Answer

Hello Nick, what is happening is the slider is getting stuck in the spin position and when the washer tries to agitate and the control sees the motor drawing too much power as it is turning the wash plate and the basket at the same time. When you checked it you freed the slider for a short time. The slider W10734521 has nylon splines that mate to the drive assembly (gearcase) W11393685 splines in spin. They are held apart by the slider spring for agitation and the slider is pulled into the spin position by the electromagnetic clutch only in spin. The splines may be worn or distorted and are not sliding smoothly. The splines are not lubricated. Youu would need to check the splines of the slider and drive assembly and order the slider and if needed the drive assembly also.
